SCENE IN THE QUEENSLAND ASSEMBLY.

A scene occurred in the Assembly at Brisbane on Friday morning. Mr Doug* las, on three separate occasions, referred : to Messrs Mcllwraith and Palmer's position in the House, pending the action Miles t. Mcllwraith, and finally read an article from, the Sydney Morning Herald in support of bis remarks. The Premier retorted that Mr Douglas was trying to prejudice the jury which would try the case, and called him a political coward. A scene ensued, in which Mr Douglas demanded the words should be taken down. Mr Palmer added that Mr Douglas was a political slanderer. The Speaker ordered the Premier to apologise* - which he did, adding that he was prepared to repeat the words with adjectives added, and that the Speaker's ruling did not alter his opinion of Mr Douglas's das* tardly conduct one bit. .
