THE SCOTTISH BATTALION.

Both companies met last .night for battalion drill in their hall on the BeachRoad, Lieut. Johnston in command. .The following acted in command of companies: —Lieut. Brownlow and Sergeant Burns, while Lieut. Heron was senior major, color sergeant Scott junior major, and Capt. Schofield adjutant. The men displayedl considerable aptitude for the work, and each movement was done with soldier-like alacrity. The financial meeting followed, when the bon. Secretary's (tiergt. Wilson) report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of color-sergt. Scott to be sergt.-major of the battalion was next proceeded with. This matter was done unanimously, and is looked upon as a recognition of Sergeant Scott's services to the corps for the past five years. .
