THAMES SCOTTISH BATTALION.
The first company of the Scattish Battallion were also inspected last night, Owing to the strict method adopted at inspections, Major Withers has notified that only Swo companies of Thames volunteers can be inspected in one night. This in itself speaks well for the volunteers of the district, whoce claim to first position in military matters has been conceded by the present Government. No. 1 Scottish did not muster quite so strong as usually is the case for inspection. The officers present were Lieutenants Johnstone (in command), ISrownlpw, and Heron. The corps was ready with the usual salute for the inspecting officer. This fine old company mustered in excellent strength; the band also paraded, making the company muster of 74 of all ranks.
