GRAHAMSTOWN BRANCH, No. 35.

The half-yearly meeting of the members of the Grahamstown Branch of the H.A.C.B. Society, held at the Hall a few days ago, was unusually well attended, fifty-two members being present. Mr F. Trainor (President) in the chair. After the disposal of some business of minor importance, the election of office bearers for the ensuing term was then proceeded with with the following result: —President, Mr Trainor (re-elected); Vice-president, Mr McEnteer; Treasurer, Mr Twohill; Secretary, Mr Landers ; Warden, Mr P. Hayes; Guardian, Mr H. Sullivan; Sick Visitors, Messrs M. Kiely and D. O'Brien; Medical Attendants, Drs Callan, Payne, and Huxtable. A .judicial committee of fifteen «was also appointed to investigate and adjudicate any disputes that may crop up between the brethren during the term. The returns and balance sheet for the quarter ended 14th June were read by the Secretary, and disclosed on the whole a satisfactory state of affairs, notwithstanding the heavy drain on the Sick Fund—£4l 8s 4d, including a refund of £6 11s 8d to the Auckland and Weilington Branches. There is to the credit of the Sick Fund £573 11s Id, and to the Incidental and Management Fund, £282 11s sd, including assets, making a total of £856 2s 6d. The members are, if anything, decreasing, owing to many of them residing in Auckland drawing their clearances and throwing them inh> that Branch, A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the auditors, llev. F. F,eilly and Mr Mcllhone, coupled with the name of the Secretary, for the able manner they performed their respective duties. The newly-elected officers were installed by P. P. Byrne, aud severally returned thanks for the'honor conferred on them. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers which was suitably responded to. After the passing of sick pay and accounts to the amount of £18 14s, the meeting was brought to a close by the President-elect reciting the usual prayer, the." Angelus."
