"H.M.S. Pinafore."

The celebrated opera, "H.M.S. Pinafore," is, we hear, to be produced on the 29th iusfc., at the Academy of Music. The chorus will have to " stand to their guns," and give fitting welcome to Mrs Cripps (Mrs Brassey) (nee Hunter), who will no doubt drive a good trade with the " sailors' shy " while pursuing a peripatetic meander over the wooden walls of an imaginary mano'-war. She will sympathise with Ralph (Mr Airey) who " lored above his station" in solemn recitative, while the " nightingale sings," and will introduce " the gallant Captain that you are " (Mr Hilton), who " knows the value of a kindly chorus," and is "a right good captain too," and "never used a big big D." Josephine (Mrs Kilgour), the " Captain's daughter," will with looks of " epauletted scorn " request the amorous Balph to " refrain audacious tar his suit from pressing," and will shine in her trying recitative "on the one hand," " while on the other" " dinner will be served her in a pudding basin " —-this " her lot" to marry the " simple sailor, " lowly born," who has become the object of Dick Deadeye's (Mr C. Brown) " angularity," and with whom Sir Joseph Porter (Mr E. E. McGregor) " has a bone to pick." " His sisters, cousins, and aunts" will be led by the pert Hebe (Miss Eva Coney), who will accompany Sir Joseph " gently on tiptoe stealing," when " Hymen will defray the fare," while the youthful aspirants to matrimony will " with bated breath steal ashore" to be wedded, though the "lass was alas above his station." The boatswain (Mr W. Stewart) will with his " gallant crew " accord the Captain a suitable welcome " for he himself" hath said it" and deserves honour for "he is an Englishman.'' Indeed, it may be said of the troupe that " they are a very good crew " and should obtain a good house on the 29th inst.
