NEW GOLDEN CROWN.

The long looked for breaking down took place this morning, and everybody was on the gui vive for news concerning the result. At the time of my visit the. men were employed in picking over the results of two shots—one Bred on each side of the cross-cut—and about 20lbs of. specimen stone bad been bagged. I should say that about one or two tons of quartz was displaced by the shots, and it was all of a likely character, containing large quantities of ruby silver, bright copper, and colors and dabs of gold were frequently to be met with. The faces of the reef looked as well as ever. Several other shots will be fired this afternoon, when no doubt more will be known respecting the lode. ■

Later.

Late this afternoon I again visited the mine and found that several other shots had been fired and about 4 or £ tons of quartz was lying on the floor of the drive from which a few lbs of- specimen stone had been picked. In the left drive this afternoon's shots proved that what bad been hugged as the wall of the lode being but a.small dropper about 18 inches separated it from the main body.Another breaking down will take place on Monday.
