ALBURNIA.

.This mine was visited yesterday afternoon. Sous of Freedom tunnel: The country here is very hard, and no quartz has been broken for some days. Poor progress is made. 160 feet level: The reef in the eastern drive is now only two feet thick, and composed of dull bluish quartz, with white seams running through it. The lode has good mineral indications anil the country favorable, but I cannot speak very highly of its general appearance. 70 feet of Dixon's crosscut has been.cleaned oat, and the footway laid down. This is one of the works alluded

to by the manager in a recent report as one of a series to open up the lower levels of Dixon's section. Good crushing dirt is still being broken in the western drive at this level. In the eastern st'opes, good crushing stone is taken from about two feet of the reef, with occasional patches of golden quartz. Intermediate level: Sloping here continues as successful as ever, good hauls of specimens and picked stone being frequently obtained. Only a portion of the lode is saved, one section being composed of white, unprofitable stone. 70 feet level: Driving and stoping on the hanging wall leader is still in progress with satisfactory results. The lode in the face is somewhat pinched now. In the stope on Sons of Freedom reef good crushing dirt continues to be broken. The general crushing of the company is shapiug splendidly. The manager informs me that it is probable no retorting will take place till the end of the month.
