NEW PLYMOUTH.

Saturday

Mr Williams, prospector of the Esbank Iron Works in New South Wales, arrived here last evening from Wellington. He proceeded this morning to the Hemu Iron Works for the purpose of inspecting the plants and works. Mr Williams intends taking ten tons of iron sand from New Plymouth to Esbank iron works to be submitted to the processes adopted there for the treatment of iron sand.

The Agricultural Society last night passed a rote of thanks to Mr Iletterly, Cattle Inspector, for the steps he had taken to prevent cattle being brought here from Auckland, and thus preventing the spread of pleuro-pneumonia in this district.
