Settling Up.
The greatest credit is due to the stewards tor the admirable manner in which the .proceedings were conducted, and of the Hod. Sec. Mr Fen ton, too much cannot be said. He went about his work in a quiet, steady manner, and the greatest satisfaction was the result. The stewards met last evening at the Governor Bowen Hotel to pay over the stakes and settle all accounts. The receipts were shown to be £78 9s 6d, and the expenses £65 12s 9J, leaving a balance in band amounting to £1216s 9d. It was resolved to divide the balance as follows:—Mr Spencer five guineas, for expenses incurred and damage to fences; the secretary (Mr Fenton) £3 3«, which that gentleman intimated he would hold in trust as a reserve fund towards the next Cavalry sports; Hospital donation, £1 Is ; Orphanage, £1 It; Ladies' Benevolent Society, £1 Is; and the Old Men's Refuge the balance of £1 5s 9d. The following is the balance sheet:—Receipts: Gates, £36; Ist race (entrance money), £110s; 2nd, £2; 3rd, £3"; 4th, *3; sth, £2 10s; 6th. £1 10s; 7th, £1 10s; booths, £6 18s; Major Jackson, £5; Mr Ehrenfried, £5; Mr Tonkin, £110s; grand stand, £6; Mr Gellion, £2 Is 6d; Mr Hogg, £2 ; total, £78 9s 6d. Expendi-ture:—-Stakes : Selby's Canute, £6; Cussen's Cocky, £1; Brindle's Loafer, £10; Kelly's Misfortune, £2; Garland's Emu, £10; Donovan's Sweetbriar, £2; Tyson's Derby, £6; McFarlane's Fidget, £1; Allwell's Blackthorn, £6; Wright's Boy, £1; Pollard's Derby, £8; Garland Emu, £1; Taylor's Eclipse, £5; printing and advertising "£4 Is 9d; bellman, 10s; cub-hire £1 Is; hurdles, £1; total expenses, £65 12s 9d; balance in hand, £12 16s 9d.
