Thames Naval Brigade.

This Brigade competed among their own membei'g on Saturday last lor the money allotted to them out of the Government grant to the district. This amount, £10 9a, Was by a vote of the of the Brigade, dirided into two equal , prizes, one for the first, and one for the second class shots. The former was carried off by Petty-Officer A. Thomas, with a score of 67, followed by Lieut. Gordon and Seaman Parslow, with the respective scores of 64 and 62. The latter was won by PeUyOfficer J. Thomas dso with a score of 67, followed by Seamen Geo. and Fred White, who each scored 46. The winners will in accordance with the wish of the Brigade, expressed at a meeting held last week, j hand tbn amounts so won by them to the Brigade to be given in equal portions to purposes, viz., Thames Hospital, Thames Orphanage, and the widow of the volunteer who was sho f while marking at the Kaiwarra butts, Wellington. This course, we understand, has been taken by the Nam Is as a quiet and respectiul mode of evincing their dissatisfaction at the action of the Committee of Officers in allotting the Government grant among the several companies, leaving each company to fix its own prizes, instsad of taking the usual, and (the Favals appear to consider) the prescribed course of dividing the money into prizes to be competed for by our volunteers generally, irrespective of to which company they might belong.
