Match between Thames and Dunedin Naval Brigades.
A challenge match between the Dunedin and Thames Natal Brigades took place on Saturday. The ranges were 200,400 end 500 yards, seven shots at each range. The Dunedin men do not, however, fire until Saturday next. Major Munay acted here on behalf of the Dunedin men to see all fair, and Captain Wilson, of the City Guards, will act in a like capacity for our Brigade. We shall look with interest for the account of the scores made at Dunedin, sis tie Thames people are, and have reason to be, proud of the volunteer Blue Jackets, especially in tbe shooting line. Hatches of this character, however, lose much of the interest they would otherwise possess inasmuch as the teams may, and probably will, shoot under very different advantages or disadvantages of wind and light. Last Saturday was not by any means a gcod day for making large scores, the wind being gusty and from the left, and the light very variable. The following''are the scores :—
200 400 500 . . yds yds yds Tl. Seaman Parslow ... 25 21 20—66 P.O. Jumieson ... 20 19 19—58 P.O. Armstrong .... 24 24 21—69 P.O. Walker .... 23 23 13—59 Lieut. Gavin ... 22 19 25—64 Sub-Lieut.
