Wellington, Last night. The House met at 2 30. G. B. WOBGAN. Eeplying to Mr Hatnlin, Mr Hall said that until all the facts were before the House, it was not advisable to introduce and pass on Act to indemnify George Buokland Worgan of any evidence he may have given beforo the Nativo Affairs Committee tending to criminate himself. DABGAVILLE TELEGRAPH STATION. Replying to Mr Moss, Mr Hall said the telegraphic station is not likely to be opened at Dargaville. THAMES HIGH SCHOOL. Eeplying to Mr Slieeban, Mr Oliver replied that inquiries would bo made as to the necessity for placing a sum upon the Estimates for the Thames High School in the same manner as provision is being made for the Auckland Girls' High School, Wellington Colleges Now Plymouth High School, and other similar institutions. KAITANGATA BAILWAY. Replying to Mr Murray, Mr Oliver said a report will be laid before the House, of the Enginneer, upon the Brighton-Kaitangata, and Outram-Clar-endon railways. , COAL BEAM AFIRE. ' . Eeplying to Mr .Reeves, Mr Oliver said that enquiries will bo made if it is necessary that steps should be taken in order to have the fire extinguished which has been burning for some years past in a coal seam near Port Elizabeth, West Coast, Middle Island. MINE BEGISTBATION. Eeplying to Mr Bain, Mr Hall said ?teps would be taken for the purpose of | introducing a clause into the Mining Companies' Eegulations Act, to enable mining companies to be registered in Invercargill. BILLS. The following Bills were introduced, and read a first time:—To amend the Appeals from Justices Act, 1868; Women's Property (Finn) ; to amend the Inch Clutha Act, 1878, (Thomson). The following were read a second time:— Debtors and Creditors Act, 1876, amendment ; and members of General Assembly Expenses Bills. BEGULATION OF ELECTIONS. The Regulation of Elections Bill was ! further considered in committee. A division took place on clause 21, so as to i make the subsection read, " Have you already voted at the present election more than once." On a division the ayes were 29, and the noes 31. The clause as printed was put and carried.
A further amendment to the clause was moved, ao as not to give more than two Totes was put, and on a division ayes were 29, and noes 21. The clause as printed was put and carried In clause 33, Mr Hislop moved an addition that no elector be allowed to rote in more than three electoral districts. The House divided—ayes 26, noes 27. The clause as printed was put and carried.
