[Br Teleghaph.] (fbom a cobebspondent). Wellington, This day. The Financial Statement is likely to be roughly handled by the Opposition. Sir George Grey, in an earnest speech, given with unusual force, characterised the proposals as absurd, and done with the object to relieve property holders. [t is rumored Government intend not to collect the present Land Tax, nor to introduce a Bill to prevent the dealing in Native Lands. Ctrey was very severe on the Bank of New Zealand, the Upper House, and tko , landholders, who had put in the Ministry, with the sole object of relieving property at the expense of the working people. There is considerable dissatisfaction w itli the Staloment, and the proposals arc sure to be modified in the House. The Mayor is pressing the ciairai of (fie Borough on Government, and will likely return at an early date.
