Sydney, Monday. Bushrangers at work. A telegram from Gundagai, to night, states (hat a desperate encounter took place between the police and bushrangers. Two of the latter were shot dead and one wounded; two surrendered, and one escaped. One of the constables was seriously wounded in the affray. Seven bushrangers yesterday stuck up the Natabadgery Hotel and station, taking the arms, ammunition, money, and hor«es. Four policemen from Wagga were oesjmlcLed in pursuit, and encountered "tho bushranger.*. The police lost their horses, and were compelled to retreat. JVobody was wounded. The Clarendon mails were also stuck up. There was a strong body of police sent in pursuit. Later.

Three civilian* going to assist the police fell into an ambuscade, and were. given five minutes to prepare for death. Police arriving, a desperate fight ensured. Beisbani?! This day. 200 blacks attacked seven Chinamen, who were fishing north of Cooktown, spearing one.
