Robert McEwen, 8 years old, wai charged with setting fire to a haystack, which arose through lads playing with crackers. The Magistrate said it wai either arson or nothing, and there being no malicious intent the case was dismissed. The father of the lad, who was charged with obstructing the arrest expressed regret for his conduct, and the case wai withdrawn.
