This day.
A fire occurred at Kells* general store, Tnupo Quay. The flumes spread rapidly, and soon completely enveloped Capstick's Eailway Motel. Owing to the efforts of the Brigade and a good supply of water, the fire was confined to the two buildings. Hells' family escaped without saving anything. The origin of the fire is unknown. The insurance on Sells' store and building is £100 in the New Zealand; stock £600 in the Imperial, and £GOO in the National; furniture, £250 in the Transatlantic; Capstick's Building, £250 in the North British and Mercantile, and £600 in the Union; stock and furniture, £150 in'the South British and Mercantile, and £4XO in the Standard.
