At the. Police Court to-day, Thomas Eowen waa charged with permitting card playing in his hotel in College Road, and was fined 20a and costs. A singular discovery of an immense trunk of a puriri tree in the sea level in excavating at Port Britomarfc. Portions will be sent to the Sydney Exhibition. The tree must hare been embedded for ages. The Pakuranga Hunt Club ran a suecesful drag on Saturday. The hounds leave for a fortnight's hunting in the Waikato.
