: The candidates for the Egmont electorate are Sherwood, Atkinson, and Mcguire. Sherwood has declared for the Liberal party, but is not favorable to Grey as leader. McGuire is not pronounced, aud ia expected to retire. Atkiusoa addressed a large meeting at
Carlyle last night, where a vote of confidence was proposed and negatived.
