Major Atkinson addressed a large meet* ing last night. He reviewed the political events, and denied that he had neglected the district. He pledged himself to re* occupy Waimate Plains, and said the Grey Government had passed no useful measures. Kewi had hoodwinked Grey andSheehan, Grey had no idea how to cope with the native difficulty. He advo* cated that public works be pushed on. He was well .questioned, and a vote of confidence passed with no dissentient. ■
