Thames Goldfield Hospital.

The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of th:s Institution was held at the Salutation Hotel at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Present—Mr L. Ehrenfried (Vice-President) in the chair, Mr Hudson (Hon. Treasurer), the Revs. Father O'Beilly, S. J. Neill, R. Laishley, Messrs T. L. Murray, Aitken, Ab'ier, Davies, Mulligan. Henshaw, Bressey, Frater, Mellhone, Mennie, Price, McGowan.

Mr Bressey, as one of the House Com* mittee, pointed out that the Committee had not power to discharge the cook any more than they had power to dismiss the house surgeon. Mr Mellhone said, if they adopted the report, the cook would be called on to send in her resignation, and would hare no right to appeal to the general com* mittee. The Secretary stated that the patient named Avery, who had been committed to the Lunatic Asylum, had a sum of £30 held in trust for him by the Foresters' society, and this they were willing to band over to the institution for hia maintenance, on the committee holding them free from all responsibility. I |Mr Brassey moved " That the Secretary furnish an account to those who placed A very in the. hospital for the expenses of his maintenance as agreed on." This was agreed to. THE COOK. The cook, Mrs Power, wrote with reference to the charges against her that she always endeavored to do her duties in a proper manner. She complained thai she had more work to do than the previous cook. The following gentlemen were appointed 4 committee to investigate the matter:—Messrs Davies, Benthaw, McGowan, Mulligan and .Brassey. / APPLICATION FOB INCBBASB OF SALARY. The senior warden jfoplied for an increase of salary. Mr-JlcGowan moved the inorease of the saint to £2 per week. This was lost by one vote.
