In the lottery case Police t. Stevenson, the Magistrate said in the absence of any local or colonial legislation he had to fall back on English law in the Act subsequent to the one under which the information had been drawn, provided the penalties in such casei should be recovered at the suit of the Attorney-General. Consequently the case was dismissed.
Mrs Redwood, mother of Bishop Redwood and Henry, the great racing man, and numerous other old settlers, died this morning, aged 84 years.
