This day.

MrG. S. Cooper, Under-Secretary for the Colony, is so far recovered that he was out driving to-day.

About one o'clock this morning a policeman hearing loud cries for help near the railway station went to the spot and found a woman who led him to a water closet where he found her husband, Mr Seals of the Customs, lying on the floor with his throat cut. He had lost a great deal of blood. For a few days baok he had been in a depressed condition.. He left his house that evening to attend a masonic lodge. Mr Keals is now in a precarious condition.
