■■ For the Ohika bridge contract the tender of a local man for £1998 has been accepted. The Koronui Company, who have let the contract for the bridge, propose to push on the construction of a branch line, and pat No. 2 issue scrip into the market when-the time is completed.

Mr Cooper and Major Boberts, 8.M., sit as a Commission to-day in regard to the charge of intemperance, and consequent neglect of duty made against Warden Broad, 8.M., by the police officer in charge to his superiors. It is said the latter has been incited by the Warden reporting the said officer undeservedly.
