This day. The Hauraki at present is hard and fast on the north bank of the Waitara ltiver, about a quarter of a mile from the point. Everything has been got out of her, and at midnight last night she floated and moved about her own length. Capt.
Dale says she will be got off when the spring tides set in, which will, be in about ten day's time. Thursday. The Herald publishes a telegram from the Hon. 3J. Stout re immigration to Taranaki as follows: "We have none to spare. from other places. All are clamouring for mor« immigrants. I.propose to take- several families from Jackson's Bay in about a fortnight, and will forward them direct to New Plymouth.^ The Agent-General will be informed of the wants of Taranaki. Be the Wai mate Plains sale, I will not definitely fix the place till the survey is finished." The Hauraki's cargo is sate. The banquet to the Hon. Mr Sheehtn takes place to-morrow. It will be in no way political, nor will there be any political ut erances thereat. , •>'
The Mayoralty dection resulted in Fooke's being returned. . . A banquet is to bo given to the Hon. Mr Sheehau, Rewi, and' Taonni tomorrow.
