This day.
The Prince of Wales' birthday celebration will be observed as a bank holiday on the 11th inst. throughout the Colony except in the provincial districts of Canterbury and Auckland. In the former it is to be on the 9th, and in the provincial district of Auckland on the 13th;'that is to say, the holidays are to be proclaimed under the Bank Holidays Act for these days respectively. A Gazette notice published this afternoon announces that John Nathanial Wilson has been appointed, a member of the Executive Council of New Zealand.
Friday. Monday, the eleventh of this month, is to be observed as an official holiday throughout the colony in honour of the Prince of Wales' Birthday. The Post and Telegraph offices will, of course, participate in the holiday; A Gazette notifies by despatch from the Secretary of State that O. F. Bennett Stanford, M.P., offers a priae of £ICO for an essay on Hydrophobia to be accorded by the Boyal College ©f Physicians, of London.
