UNITED COMPANIES' DRIVE.

„ The.recent ,trial crushing from the workings of ,the United 'Companies at .the 640 feet level of, the United Pumping Association's shaft was not obtained from any definite lode, but from the: bunches of quartz formed on the cross course by a small leader' striking it from the northward. As no watter issues from ' this leader it is supposed it is not connected with any of the large lodes, so that driving has been suspended,' and a crosscut has been commenced at'a point'some 50 feet from the main cross cut. This will about follow the course of the "C" reef, which, from the direction it runs as far bs is known, should junction with the lodes marked " D " and " E " on the plan, both of the latter of which run almost parallel with each other, while the first named lode is supposed to cross their course. At the point where this cross-cut has been commenced a strong body of water issues from the face, and this may be accepted as sign that there is a body of quartz not far off. ' These workings are in the Prince Imperial ground at present.
