The Municipal Conference.

This day.

At the Municipal Conference to-day it was carried, that the Legislature should give increased facilities for Municipalities raising loans for works of improvement. That the Goldfields Act be amended so as to accord with the new provisions passed by the Conference in reference to streets in boroughs within goldfield. ■ That the powers of Borough Councils be extended to include the sale of streets no longer required for public use, proper provision being made for private rights ; also that Councils have the power to purchase land with the view of constructing new streets.
