OUR VOLUNTEERS.
No. 2 Scottish.
The usual weekly drill of this fine company took place at the drill shed on Saturday evening. There were 50 or 60 members present, and under the direction of Mr Drill Instructor Schofield they performed several company movements in a satisfactory manner. The marching especially was good, the cadence being almost perfect, and would have done credit to a much older company. After the drill the election of officers took place, the voting for whom was by ballot. The following were elected: —Lieutenant, Mr John Watson ; Sub-Lieutenant, Mr G. M. McVey ; Flag Lieutenant, Mr E. B. Cameron; Sergeants, Messrs Scott, Pickett, K. Graham (junr.), Crump, and Whitford ; Corporals, Messrs Griffin, Turtle, Howe, rlfay and Vincent; Lance Corporal, Mr Preece. After the election, the members, at the invitation of the officers, adjourned to the Governor Bowen Hotel where some little conviviality was indulged in. The healths of " Captain Macdonald," " the officers and
uon-qpns," " Drill Instructor Schofield " and others wore drunk in flowing bumpers with three times three, and were duly responded to. After about an hour's indulgence in this* manner, the company broke up.
