In the House of Commons the Marquis of Hartingion's motion censuring the Government for undertaking responsibilities without the consent of Parliament was negatived on a division by three thirty-eight (338) toone ninety-five (195).
Earl Beaconsfield and the Marquis of Salisbury were presented with the freedom of the City to-day at a banquet at the Mansion House. Afterwards Earl Beaconsfield said he believed the peace would be durable.
S;r Stafford Korthcote in the House of Commons denied the existence of a secret treaty with the Turkish.
Constantinople, August 3. The Russian troops are making home* wards. ._ London, August 2nd. The first innings of the Australians against the Eochdale Eighteen closed for 159 runs. The highest score on the Australian side was made by Bailey—29. The Eochdale team are four out for 19 runs.
