The contractors for dredging the Dunedin harbor intend using the electric light io enable them to carry on work by night. The light was exhibited on the dredge on Saturday night, and sborrd great tlluminsfting power. This day. Mr D. Reid has forwarded to the Speaker his rcignalibn as member for Taieri, Mr William Mac Donald, who has been appointed Recior of Duncdin High School, is an M.A. of Edinburgh, and was one of the most eminent students of that university, haying particularly distinguished himself 'n classics, logic and mora- phMosophy.
