The West Coast Times says that Seymour George, nephew of Sir George Grey, is likely to be a candidate for election in the place of Mr Button, resigned. A requisition is now being largely signed. There is no local candidate in the field.
Applications for more than the full number of shares to be allotted in the Hokitika Qnariz Company have been rereceived. The company intend working a new reef at Boucher's Gully, six miles from here.
