Thames Borough Council.

The annual special meeting of this body was held at the Council Chambers at noon to-day. There were present—His Worship the Mayor, Crs Renshaw, Price, McGowan end Wilson. ANNUAL STATEMENT. The Mayor read the annual report of the financial state of the Borough, which has been already published, and in commenting on the statement drew the attention of the Council to the great cost lof advertising, printing and stationery, which was £180. The half-yearly stateof the City of Auckland showed that the cost of printing for the City Council was £127. The Mayor was then authorised to sign the statement The Town Clerk, at the request of the Mayor, read an extract from the report of the annual meeting last year, which showed that the then Mayor, Mr Macdonald, had been of the same mind as himself respecting the large advertising account. He thought the matter should be settled, once and for all. A letter was read from Mr Wilkinson of the Advertiser office with reference to a disputed account for advertising, and after a short discussion the matter was left in the hands of the Finance Committee. ■'■'■■ ;"' ""-'' .
