RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
' THIS DAY. , (Before W. Fraser, Esq., E.M.) DBITNKENNESS.
Richard Lawson was charged with being drunk and incapable in Burke street, Grahamstown, last night.
Defendant being on bail and failing to appear his bail was forfeited.
PBOFANE LANGUAGE
, Charles Rowley was charged with using indecent and profane language in a piibhc place to wit Albert street, Grahamstown, on the 16th inst.
Mr Macdonald appeared for the defendant and pleaded guilty. Defendant had used the profane language when the sergeant threatened to arrest him. He had been the worse of liquor at the time, and was not sure he had used the language until he was told so by some of his friends.
His Worship said he thought the ends of justice would be satisfied by fining the de lend ant 20s and costs, or in default 14 days' imprisonment. The_other charge of destroying .the bucket would be withdrawn if the article was replaced. Court adjourned.
