The weather continues splendid for cricket; the match was continued at 20 minutes past 12 o'clock. Collinson having been disabled, Macdonaid took his place in the field, Hill and J.upp, the two not outs of the: previous day, appeared at the wickets to the trundling of Dixon and Millington. After scoring three, Jupp was easily caught by Cargill off Millington —1.3.19. Charlwood joined Hill,'who scored 19 and was caught by. Rhodes — 2.19.28. Ulyett filled the vacancy, and had scored 30 when an adjournment was made for lunch, Charlwood then being 23.
. Play .was resumed, at 3 p.m., when Lathbury was put on to bowl in place of Millington. Charlwood made a single in the first over. Two maidens, one by Everest and the other by Lathbury, followed. Rhodes let the ball pass him, and then runs were scored for a bye, Ulyett now made a single off Everest, and Charlwood cut the same bowler for 2. Ulyett next lifted the ball clean over the fence, and 4 were added to the score. Having made another single, he drove Everest to long-on, and was caught by Morrison—3.3B.9l. Selby then joined Charlwood, but he retired at the second ball,-being caught—byA-Spring—-40.91.: Greenwood was the next to join Charlwood, who quickly added 6 more to the score. Two runs wereobtained by Greenwood, but he and Charlwood now parted company, the latter havipg been cleverly stumped by Spring—s.32.97. Emmett took Charlwood's place, and the score wa» soon raised ,to 100. Millington was again put on to bowl, and Emmett sent his first ball to leg for 2. Greenwood contributed another, but was caught at point the following ball by Cargill— 6.12.114..
