THEATRE ROYAL.
The benefit performance of the T. A.D.C# took place at this theatre on Saturday evening. The opening piece was the " Charcoal Burner" in which Messrs Dixon and Loveday acquitted themselres very well. After which H. Anderson essayed to walk on a single telegraph wire stretched from the stage to the top of the gallery. The attempt was a daring one, but we.have no doubt whatever, that he would have successfully accomplished it, difficult as it no doubt is, had not the wire unfortunately broke. Mr Anderson had already proceeded about a third of thp distance when this happened, and luckily was not hurt by his fall which, had he fallen on some of the seats which had been left beneath the wire, might have been of a very serious nature. We hear he has successfully performed the feat before, so we hope that he may repeat his attempt on some future occasion with a better wire at his disposal. Songs and dances brought the entertainment to a conclusion. The audience was very scant and not at all conducive to spirited acting.
