PHRENOLOGY AND MESMERISM.

On Saturday night Professor Bruce lectured on the above subjects at the Theatre Royal. After a short introduction, explanatory of the science of phrenology, illustrated by diagrams drawn on a black board, the Professor called for volunteers from the audience to go and havo their bumps felt. He requested the audience to indicate some gentlemen who were well known to them, so that they might be able to judge of the truthfulness of his delineations of character. Some seven or eight persons went upon the stage, including three 01? foujp whose characters —at least their prominent features—were well known. The Professor proceeded to manipulate their cranial development, and it is fair ,to say that he hit off their peculiar traits in a satisfactory , manner, gaining frequent applause as some decided hit was made, and fully convincing the most sceptical that as an indication of the bent of the mind and adaptability for certain pursuits, phrenology is no mean guide. This bus fro-

quently been illustrated on the Thames by other professors of the science of phrenology, but by none more faithfully than by Professor Bruce on what was his first appearance here. Other" subjects " were afterwards treated, and the entertainment concluded with some mesmeric manifestations.
