THE TOWNSHIP OF PAEROA.
; The auctioneers announce the 1 sale of this township at the Academy, of Music on Saturday next. Already a number of the most eligible allotments have been taken up and built upon by business people, the advantages of situation, with regard to communication with the Thames-and what will be the goldfield being such as to commend it to those who have any faith in the prospects of" Ohinemuri. Faeroa is nicely situated on the banks of the Ohinemuri river, and takes its name from the Maori settlement in 1 tlie vicinity. It is the property of Messrs Jackson and. Bussell, of Auckland, who, with great foresight, have been keeping this piece of land for a township ' for some years, ever since there was a prospect of opening Ohinemuri to miners.. The town is laid out partly on a gentle slope, ai\d partly on a small plateau commanding a fine' view of the surrounding country and river scenery. It has also the advantage of being the terminus of the steamboat traffic, and, as all the roads to I tjie different parts of the goldfield will radiate from Paeros, it follows that this
township must become the chief centre of business and the principal resort oftje population. From its elevated position-#Vfc is said that floods have never been known to touch it, another advantage in a' district where tlie rivers occasionally overflow and cover the low-lying lands with water to a considerable depth. The auctioneers, Messrs Cochrane and Son, will, no doubt, expatiate on the advantages of Paeroa on Saturday. It will be unnecessary, however, so far as influencing those who know the country, the situation^ of Paeroa, and the limited area of lands available for townships.
