Perston, ;; : Esqs., J.P.'s.) -' f LiRCENT.' . , Henry Anderton was charged with feloniously stealing a pair of boots of the value of 15s from the store of Edmqnd Edwards', Gti. thfc 25th January, property of John Toovey. Accused, a lad of about sixteen'years of age, pleaded guilty. Mrßullen pointed out the provisions of the Justices of the Peace Act, and stated that it would be impossible to deal with the accused as a- juvenile offender, he being close upon 16 years of age. Several acts of larceny had been traced to the ptisoner, but the goods having been returned"to the owners po prosecution had followed. Prisoner was, he understood, of respectable parents., „If it had not been that a previous felony had pe«n proved against the prisoner, he (Mr Bulleo) would have ask ed their Worships to avail themselves of the 1 provisions of. the 82nd section of the Act, under which they could dismiss a charge where it was a first offence and the property under the value of 20s.

The Bench said that under the circumstances, and in order to s.ct as a warning to prisoner, he would be sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labor. ' The Court adjourned.
