CITY OF LONDON.
The contractors for the erection of machinery, &c, have a strong body of men at work, and by to-morrow morning the massive poppet legs will probably be in position. Although the manager is using every effort to bo sufficiently advanced with the machinery so as to make a start immediately after the new year sets in, yet I think that it will be close on to February ere the winding of quartz is fairly resumed. That the new level of the company will ba a profitable one there can be hardly any doubt, for the reefs, as seen in the face of the Queen of Beauty 270 feet level, at no great dis tance from the City, adduce stronger evidence of their value than anything I can write.
