THE COLIBAN.

The Coliban reef is now driven on for 55 feet, and the leading stope has been carried forward for about 30 feefc. The reef is about a foot in thickness. The timbering up is carried on as the work progresses- A start was made at crushing a lot of stone from this mine at Webb's battery yesterday, and oh! visiting.'; the battery this morning a good, payable shew of amalgam was r observed on the plates. There has not hitherto been any continuous crushing from this mine, but the manager, Mr. Bates, gives it as his opinion that when the mine is more opened out he will be able to send larger parcels of stone to the mill.
