Edward Conaghan, married (02), mi employee of the Whangarci Timber Company, succumbed in hospital last night to injuries received late in the afternoon when unloading logs from a waggon in the mill yard. The breaking of a jack suddenly released a log which fell- directly upon Conaghan, inflicting terrible injuries.

A painful accident, resulting in Douglas Kray, uged 11 months, receiving several injuries through upsetting a bucket of hot water over iiimselt, occurred this morning. The. child, who lives with iiis parents at Wainiauku, was endeavouring to pull himself up to an upright position by gripping the edge of the bucket. The result was that it was upset and the contents were flung over him. -The bey was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he now lies seriously ill. ACCIDENT ON STAGE. Edward Warrington, a member of the company, sustained painful injuries to his face as the result of an explosion of a blank cartridge in the course of a matinee at the Opera House. Warrington was standing near tho muzzle of the revolver, which was to bo fired by another actor, and on the charge being exploded received burns to his face. His injuries were not severe enough to necessitate his retirement from the performance, but at the conclusion of this it was thought advisable to summon a doctor. Warrington’s condition is not serious, and it is hoped he will bo able to rejoin his company in a few days.
