MURDER IN SOHO.
CHARGE AGAINST FRENCHMAN. I3v Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cubic Asaocrntjou. (Received April S, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 7. Charles Emile Bertliier, who was arrested at Nowliaven, was charged at Marlborough Street with the murder of Charles Ballada. He was remanded.
(The foreign quarter of Soho was thrilled last Monday evening by a man dashing liatless from a club with blood streaming from a wound in his head, despite which he escaped. The police found a man dead in the club and drew a cordon round the vicinity, detaining the members while they investigated. It is believed that the men quarrelled suddenly about a woman, while they were playing, cards ami drinking. Subsequently detectives boarded a channel .steamer at Newhaven late at night just before her departure for Dieppe and detained a Frenchman on a charge of murdering a compatriot named Charles Ballada.)
