ADDINGTON YARDS. HIGH PRICES FOR FATS. By Tolfljyrnph—Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 7. Fat stock advanced in price to-day, particularly' fat cattle, on account of the reduced entry'. There was a. big store slieep yarding, comprised mostly of ewes from the North Island, Store sheep.—A guod class of ewes sold at up to previous rates, but most of the North Island ewes, which dominated tho section, sold slackly, some ewe lambs being the exception. The adult Northern ewes were of poor quality’. Forward lambs and wethers sold briskly, but medium lambs were harder to quit. Forward rape lambs realised 22s to 24s Cd, medium 19s to 21s Gel, small 17s to 18s 6d, inferior 15s to 16s 9d, halfbred ewe lambs 25s to 28s Id, crossbred ewe lambs 24s 6d to 26s 6d, two-toothed tli ree-quarter-bred ewes 28s 6d to 335, cull do. 24s to 27s 6d, four, six and .eight-toothed Romnev ewes 28s 6d to 31s, crossbred ewes 25s to 28s, failing mouthed crossbred ewes 18s to 22s 6d, four and five-year-old halfbred ewes 23s 6d to 27s 6d. failing mouthed halfbred ewes 18s 6d to 235, four, six and eight-toothed halfbred wethers 23s 6d to 26s 6d, twotootlicd halfbred wethers 23s to 255, two and four-toothed halfbred wethers 22s t 0.265. Fat- lambs.—2loo were entered and there was a keen sale at up to schedule rates; —83d to lOd.for 42-36, extra heavy' lambs to 33s lOd, prime heavy' 29s 6d to 3'2k, medium weight 28s to 30s 6d, inferior 25s 6d to 27s 9d, store 23s to 255.

Fat sheep.—An average entry’ and akeen sale, best classes being above export rates. The advance on last week’s prices was from Is to 2s per head. Extra prime wethers brought up to 40s Id, prime 33s 6d to 365, medium 30s to 335, light 26s to 29s 6d. Extra prime ewes to 32s 7d, prime 25s 6d to 29s 6d, medium 22s to 255, light 18s 6d to 21s Cd, aged 13s to 18s. Fat cattle.—3lo were entered. The average values were up by 30s to 40s per head for all good class stuff. Choicest bepf made to 46s per lOOlbs, good prime 40s. to 445, heavy beef 37s 6d to 39s Cd, medium 3-ls to 375, and rough down to 22s 6d. Extra heavy steers brought- up to £l9 17s 6d, heav.v £ls 15s to £lB, prime medium weight £l4 10s to £l7 15s, medium quality £ll 5s to £l4, light £8 to £lO 10s; extra prime heifers to £l6 17s 6d, prime £lO. to £l2 10s, ordinary £7 15s to £9 15s, light £5 to £7 10s; extra prime cows to £l6 2s 6d, ..prim© £9 5s to £ll 10s, medium £7 to £9. light £5 5s to £6 15s, rough £4 to £5. V.ealers. —A small entry and a keen sale. Runners brought np to £7. Store cattle.—A scratch yarding of cows, which did not sell as well as last week. Dairy' cattle. —A good sale, the entry being small. Best springing cows fetched up to £l4 ss, medium £7 to £9 10s; best heifers £8 to £ll sd, medium £5 to £7.

Fat pigs.—Last week’s rates were maintained. Choppers fetched £3 10s to £7 8s 6d, baconers £3 15s to £6 10s. Tho average price per lb was SJd to 9}d. Porkers 50s to 73s (average price per lb Ikl to 9-id). Store pigs. —A dull sale and lower values ruled. AVcaners 6s to 14s, slips 16s to 225, small stores 24s to 295, stores 30s to 50s. BURNSIDE SALE. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 7. No great changes in prices were recorded at Burnside to-day'. There was a rising tendency for some lines. Fat cattle. —A yarding of 170, the proportion of prime heavy bullocks being fairly’ big. Some few yardings of prime heifers and cows, were included, and the balance of the yarding consisted of medium steers. Tho market opened quietly and somewhat easier than last week, but prime bullocks soon lifted to the rates quoted at the previous sale. Prime hnndyweight bullocks sold at equal to 45s per lOOlbs, while prime heavy’wcighis were so’d at equal to 445, prime heifers up to 355, and light heifers and cows from 30s. Extra heavy bullocks realised from £lB to £2l s sd, prime from £l2 to £l6. Prime heifers made £ 97s 6d to £ll 15s, prime heavy' cows from £9 10s' to £ll, lighter from £0 5-s to £7 15s. Sheep.—A mixed entry’ of 2075. The salo was good and the opening demand very fair. Values were equivalent to last, week’s, though the last few pens sold met with very' keen competition. Prime handy weight wethers were worth 51d to Od, and prime heavy ewes to sd, and light and aged ewes to 4d. Heavy wethers made from 39s to 41s, prime from 31s to 375, unfinished 24s 3d. Heavv prime owes realised from A£f)s to 31s 6d, and light from iSs 6d to 225.

Lambs.—A penning °f 897, compared with.,.547 last sale. The entry 1 for tho most part was comprised of heavy prime lambs, though there were a number of medium pannings. There .was a good demand for all classes, lastweek’s prices being fully maintained. Heavy prime lambs brought from 25s Cd to 27s 6d, unfinished from 22s to 2,‘ls. Prime lamb sold at from 9d to lOd. Store cattle. —A yarding of .927, compared with 289 last week. Steers aged 21 years made £'B 10s per head, two-year-olds £7 10s, forward 11-year-olds £4 ss. Conditioned cows also sold well. Pigs.—A penning of 110 fats and 75 stores, llaconers sold at about on a par with last week, while porkers were a. few shillings dearer. Baconers sold at from 8d to 9d, porkers lOd to lOjd per pound. HOME MARKETS. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated •the Ist instant, from the High Commissioner for Now Zealand, London : Butter.—Market quiet. Official quotations are-: New Zealand, finest suited 17.')s to 176 s per ewt (Is 6Jd to Is Gild per lb), unsalted 174 s to 176 s per ewt (Is 6}d to Is GJd per lb), exceptional 178 s per ewt'(ls 7d per lb) ; other qualities 154 s to 168 s per ewt (Is 4jd to Is 6d per Hi). Australian, salted 170 s to 174 s per ewt (Is 6jd to Is 6|d per lb), unsalted 172 s to 174 s per ewt (Is Old per lb). Other qualities, salted 148 s to 166 s per ewt (Is .‘l*[d to Is sid per lb), unsaltcd 150 s to 166 s per ewt (Is 4d to Is ssd per lb). Argentine, unsaltcd 156 s to 162 s per ewt (Is 4Jd to Is sid per lb); other

Cheese.—Colonial quiet: English finest farmers’ unchanged and firm. Quotations are: — Canadian, finest coloured 104 s to 110 s per ewt (lid to lljd per lb), white 106 s to 112 s per ewt (11-id to Is per ib). New Zealand, coloured 97s to 98s, exceptional 100 jw-r ewt (IOJd, lOfd to Hiijd per lb), white 96s to 97s per ewt (10id per lb), exceptional 98s per ewt (10i per lb). Wool. —-Bradford market quiet and improved tone maintained though business in medium, and low crossbred tops shows no improvement yet. Present quotations are, for tops:—64’s (merino) warp 4s to 4s Id; 64’s (average) 3s lOd to 3s lid; 56’s (super halfbred) 2s 9d; 50’s (halfbred) 2s 2d; 40’s (prepared) Is 9d. Tallow.—-Spot market remains quiet and no change in prices, with the exception of mutton, fine 44s 6d to 45s per ewt. Oats.—Market quiet but steady. Plate en route sold for 18s 9d, and March-April shipments offered at. 19s. Number two Canadian Western, MarchApril shipments offered at 25s 9d nominal value. Now Zealand- Cartons A grade 275. English slow. Best white seed making 33s to 41s 6d, good feed 26s to 275. Peas. —Maple partridge, . ex store, firm. Value for best New Zealand 82s 6d,' and Tasmanian 92s fid. Blues more demand, and Japanese values have advanced. Ecbruary-March shipments sold at £35 per ton. Dutch hand-pick-ed pressed for sale at £lB. New Zealand and Tasmanian neglected. WHEAT QUOTATIONS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyricht. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, April 6. Wheat cargoes continue firm on better North American advices.
