PARKER BEATS WILLIAMS. (Special to “Herald”). CHRISTCHURCH, April 5. . At King Edward Barracks tnis evening the cliief attraction was tho Merv. (Williains-Parker fight. Parker stripped at 11.8 and Williams at 11.6. Tno .opening stages were characterised by iiluch in-fighting, Williams being in the ascendant. \Villianis furthered his lead as the bout progressed, by superb in-lighting. Purker fought buck Strongly in the second round, making up leeway, and the third round he Von. In the fourth Parker was lighting strongly, but AVilliams scored many points. With a straight left, AVilliams rocked Parker with a beautiful left to the head, and easily won tho round. Tho fifth was even, and tho 'round was not interesting. In tho sixth, AVilliams was lighting strongly and finished in the lead. In tho seventh there was much in-fighting, Parker making up the score. The best round of tho evening was the eighth. Parker attacked strongly, and. won a closely-contested round, in the ninth, Parker, with a straight left, followed 'by a right, scored convincingly at the opening. AVilliams’s superior in-fighting achieved many points. The tenth round opened with Parker leading, the Australian fighting back with body punches. Parker won the round. In the eleventh Parker assumed tlio aggressive, and had a little the better of the argument. The next round was fairly even, but the Australian reestablished his superiority, and continued to add points. In tho fourteenth Williams fought a little wildly, Ihe Timaru man having slightly the. better of it. Tho final round commenced with AVilliams apparently having a fairly substantial score to his credit, and the decision, in fnvour of Parker, met a mixed eception.
