ATTEMPT TO WRECK A TRAIN. By Taleeraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., April 3. Another attempt at railway derailment, similar to that on March o, when cattle stop rails were placed across the metals at the Terrace end and Kelsingrove road crossings, was perpetrated at a crossing two miles on the Feilding side of Bunnythorpe this morning. , , . The engino of an early goods train, which leaves Palmerston North at 3.30 a.m. for Marton, crashed into an obstacle at the crossing mentioned, about 4.30, the effect being similar to that when the Limited express met a like trouble at Terrace End-Kelvin Grove. „ , The train had a fortunate escape from derailment. A “Standard” reporter. who investigated the matter learned that six wooden cattle shqp beams had been laid across the permanent way. They were smashed and scattered by the bogey wheels of the engine, and the individuals concerned did not stop at that, for the signal wires of the Bunnythorpe station were also cut. The police were advised and are investigating to-day.
