THOSE NUMBER PLATES.
TO BE ISSUED 1 IN APRIL. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 31. In keeping witli the Government’s decision to encourage local manufactures, it was decided some time ago to have the vhst number of motor registration plates required in the Dominion manufactured ideally. An engineering firm in Wellington secured the contract for the work. Special machinery was imported and set up, but difficulties occurred in the machine not working effectively. The Hon. R. F. Bollard announced this evening that the machinery was now running with fair smoothness, and that the new plates would be ready for issue in the North Island on April Gth; and in the South Island at near the end of that month.
