BANK BANDIT.
PLUCKY STAND BY MANAGER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Ciidlo Association. I.ON DUN, -March 29. A bank manager’s pluck, followed by n thrilling street chose, frustrated a daring attempt to hold up the Copnoi branch of Lloyd’s Bank, at Portsmouth. A smartly-dressed young man entered the premises, presented a revolver at the manager, and said; “Give me ah yon have got. This is loaded.” Tim manager edged towards the door, when the intruder ordered bun to halt. 'The latter then grabbed a bundle of £SO notes, and daslied out, with the manager in pursuit. A hue and cry followed. The fugitive mounted all unattended bicycle, but il motor car chased and ran him down. The bandit, being unhurt, sprang to his feet and fired the revolver at tbe car, smashing tbe wind screen and hitting a. tyre. A policeman boarded a motor lorry., caught up,to anil overpowered him, and elfeetcd his arrest.
