He wished to thank the committee for the loyal support ac- ! corded him, and also Mr Cotterill for I his very able assistance. The ladies were also deserving of their best thunks for the manner in which they had as- | s"Uo-l tiie affairs of the club. (Ap- | plause.) 1 Tn seconding the motion, Mr A 7. T. Ritchie said that the course never looked bettor, and if only for the state of their links and also tire balance sheet, the committee was deserving of the best thanks of the club. (Applause.) The report ami balance sheet wore adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resitted as follows: —President, Mr AY. H. Walton; vice-president, Dr. Ussher; captain, Mr C. S. Bruce; u-oncral committee. Messrs E. A. Scott, AY. T. Ritchie, F. C. May, and C.'T. Torlcsso; honorary auditor, Air F. E. Duncan. In paying a tribute to the work done by Air Alav during his term of office as president, Air Walton said that a great deal of very useful work had been accomplished, and he only hoped that he could conclude his term under the same conditions as had Air May. (Applause.) GENERAL. A report drawn up by professionals competing at the recent tournament, regarding suggested improvements to the links, was submitted by the chairman. He considered that if the report was adopted by tin* committee, members con’d arrange working bees and carry out the work themselves at a great saving to the club. He felt sure that any recommendation or suggestion from members would be welcomed by the committee. A general meeting would he held at a later date to consider the report, and lie commended the suggestions to the consideration of members in the meantime.

The question of insuring members and caddies was also introduced by the chairman, who stated that the taking up of comprehensive policies by clubs covering all members and caddies, etc., from accident while on the course, at a small charge per head, was approved by the New Zealand Council. In reply to a question, the chairman said that as far as he was aware no serious accidents had over occurred at Timaru, but the game was increasing and the risks attached to the game were also growing. Air AY. Scott said that as the charge would only amount to a shilling per head it would perhaps he worth while considering the- question. On being put to the meeting, it was resolved that members should cover themselves against anv lialii itv through accidents occurring on the links. Air F,. Scott considered that the retiring committee was to ho congratulated upon the adoption of four-ball matches oil Saturdays, that system proving very successful in coping with the number of players using the links on that dnv.

ATr Revell said lie would like to sen more outside matches arranged with other clubs. Air Cotterill stated that the difficidtv in arranging home and home matches lay chiefly in the difficulty experienced in getting off their own club matches, and also in obtaining sufficient members to make the trips. He trusted that if more outside matches wore arranged during the ensuing season that members would give their loyal support. The following new members were elected:—Messrs H D. Blair. AY. G. Rich. D.
