CHOICE OF DOCTOR.
PRIVILEGES OF HOSPITAL PATIENTS. By Tole^rapJi—Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 25. “Has a hospital patient the right to demand the services of a certain practitioner when undergoing an operation ?” 'The above question was put to members of the Wellington Hospital Board, when it was made quite clear that no operation could proceed without the consent of a patient or the patient's parents. A short discussion centred I about tho following recommendation oi the Hospital Committee, which was l adopted: •’T K a+ wit l ’ rei'M-onee to a letter received from Mr W. S. Cederliolm in connection with a recent ) special report dealing with tho circnmi stances re the death of his little I son, tho medical superintendent reports ■'that in most cases patients obtain the ! services of the honorary surgeon they ; wish, but it would not be a wise policy j*u make a rule to this pH'eet. The 1 I Board undertakes to provide competent service, and everyone admitted to tho hospital has the benefit of the service.”
