STATE ADVANCES.

FOR ELEVEN MONTHS. NEARLY SEVEN MILLIONS AUTHORISED. During tho eleven mouths completed at the end of February the Advances Department authorised loans amounting to nearly seven millions. This has been carried into effect and, as the following figures indicate, the Department lias been taking active steps to cope with the situation. Tho loans authorised during’ the eleven months of tms financial year are as under:— Amount. Number. £ Settlers .. . 3885 4,413,675 Workers .. - 2797 2,330,892 Totals ... 6682 6,744,567 These amounts incite 2705 _ loans, amounting to £2,426,692 for the erection of houses.
